I knew Joe since I was a young man, just turned 80, and he had the Vee Service Station in on the corner of Wicham and Wisner Avenues. I used to hang out there with friends most nights of the week. He gave me one of my first jobs while I was in high school, cleaning the toilets. Since then, I went on to college and received my B.M.E., MBA and Ph.D. I met my Brazilian MD wife and lived in Brazil for 2 years, I have lived the rest of my life in California. Whenever I return to Middletown I would visit Joe and Noreen and talk about the good old days when we had nothing. Joe was a great mentor to me and I am happy to have known him. I am sincerely sorry that I cannot be with his family and friends for the funeral. I will pray for him.
