Obituary

William “Bill” joined his beloved wife, Mildred, in heaven for what would be their 63rd wedding anniversary on June 19, 2023. He was 93 years of age. He was surrounded with love and listening to Elvis’s rendition of “Walk On”.

Son of the late NYPD Lt. William Henry and Marie Dammeyer, he was born on May 19, 1930 in Brooklyn, NY.  He was predeceased by his sister Pearl of Florida and his wife Mildred Dammeyer.

Bill was a retired inspector for the Ford Motor Company in Mahwah, NJ and a proud member of the United Auto Workers. He proudly served his country in the US Army during the Korean War from 1951-1953 and then the Army reserves from 1953-1959. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Walden, NY and a Redtown Association member.

Bill married the love of his life, Mildred on June 20, 1960 and they enjoyed 57 years of earthly marriage until her passing in 2017.

Bill was a gentle giant, always ready with a joke and was adored by all who met him. He could often be heard singing Elvis songs which he admittedly, sounded just like. After his retirement from Ford, he enjoyed many cruises throughout the Caribbean and Alaska with his wife, always happy to be exploring new places and meeting new people.

Bill loved his family and is survived by his sister, Diane Dammeyer of Florida; his three children, William Henry Dammeyer III and his wife Jessica and their daughter Erika of Middletown, NY, Jeffery Dammeyer and his wife Kristine and their 2 sons, Tyler and Kyle of Glenmont NY, and his daughter Amy Hallock- Nierstedt and her husband Ian Nierstedt of Florida, NY and her 4 children with Wayne Hallock, and they are Wayne Hallock and his wife Emily and their 2 daughters Kaylee and Everlee of Virginia, Andrew Hallock and fiancee Mikenna Spencer of Oregon, Heather Hallock and fiancée Troy Beck of California and Brandon Hallock of Oregon.

The family would like to show appreciation to all those who helped take care of Bill in his later years, Katie, Deah and his Mary and the staff of Golden Hill Nursing and Rehab in Kingston .
