Stuart M. Greenwald

Stuart M. Greenwald passed away on Saturday, April 27, 2024 in New York City.

     Born on September 16, 1931 in Middletown, NY to Joseph & Evelyn Greenwald, he graduated from Middletown High School, Duke University and Albany Law School. He served three years in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.

    Stuart practiced law for 57 years in Middletown. He was a people’s person and a friend of everyone. His clients always received his services with commitment, loyalty and compassion. He was honored by the Orange County Bar Association with the John S. McBride Award for lifetime achievement for excellence in the practice of law and the highest professional and ethical standards. From 1965 through 1990 Stuart taught at Orange County Community College attaining the rank of Adjunct Professor. Known for his oratorical skills, he presided over numerous retirement dinners, birthday roasts and celebrations as well as delivering many eulogies for lost friends and colleagues. Stuart particularly enjoyed speaking before groups on his profound passion of baseball for which he was the ultimate source and historian for more than 75 years. He was predeceased by his parents and brother, Martin Greenwald.

    Stuart is survived by his wife, sweetheart and best friend of 63 years Renee; his children, Jill Greenwald and Nancy Scher (David) of New York City and his sister, Linda Lynwander of The Villages, FL. Deep in the core of his loving family are his three special grandchildren, Ethan, Jack and Paige who gave their poppy so much happiness.

    Funeral services will be private.
