Stanley R. Dodd, 91, a lifelong resident of Middletown, died Friday, May 26, 2006 at O.R.M.C., Horton Campus in Middletown, N.Y.
The son of Albert R. Dodd, Sr. and Emily Reid Dodd, he was born January 27, 1915 in Middletown, N.Y.
Stanley was a retired plumber with the United Association of Plumbers and Steam Fitters, Local 373 in Mountainville, N.Y. He was a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930's; member of the Eagle Engine Company #2; life member of the Middletown Elks Lodge #1097; member of the Veteran Fireman's Association; and Mountain Top Gun Club.
He was an avid golfer, bowler, fisherman and hunter. He was also a former stockcar driver.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, C. Jean Sparks Dodd, at home; two sons, Stanley J. Dodd and his companion, Susan Jacobsen of New Vernon, N.Y., and Gary S. Dodd of Wurtsboro; two daughters, Shirley Flynn and her husband, William, of Middletown, and Barbara Wingrove and her husband, Donald, of Leesburg, Fla.; three sisters: Dorothy Loeven of Otisville, Janet Dodd of Middletown, and Betty Sullivan of Tampa, Fla.; grandchildren: Joann Maxwell, Kelli Winstel, Shari Deshler, Missi Costine, Terri Deshler, Samantha Zapata, Steve, Mike, Mark and David Dodd and William Flynn Jr.; 18 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by one son, S. Robert Dodd; brothers: Russell, Larry, Ken, Elias, Jack, Albert Jr., and Robert Dodd.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, May 31, 2006 in the Cornelius, Dodd & Connell, Inc. Funeral Home, 26 Grove St., Middletown, N.Y., with the Rev. Owen D. Ridgeley officiating.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, May 30 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., where Eagle Engine Company will conduct services at 7 p.m., followed by Elks services at 7:45 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice.
