Sharon J. Melvin (nee Carr), a lifelong resident of Slate Hill, NY, former employee of the Minisink Valley School District and a retiree from the Town of Wawayanda Court, entered into rest on Sunday, July 23, 2023, at her home surrounded by family and friends.
The daughter of the late Robert R. Carr and the late Regina Carr, Sharon was born on May 20, 1948, in Middletown, NY.
Sharon was a proud graduate of Minisink Valley and had great joy for life celebrating everyday with laughter, love and caring for her family and friends, especially her grandsons and great-grandchildren. Sharon served her local community as a member of Slate Hill Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, Cub Scouts, and supported multiple youth and varsity sports at Minisink Valley.
Sharon is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Robert Melvin of Slate Hill, her son Robert Melvin and his wife Julia of Milford, PA, her daughter Mary Kelly (nee Melvin) of Westtown, her brothers Robert J. Carr and Raymond Welbert of South Centerville, her grandsons Rob Melvin and his wife Kayla of Greenville, Stephen Melvin of Greenville, Ian Kelly of Westtown and Connor Kelly of Westtown, her cherished great-grandchildren Colton, Beau, Jameson and Ryleigh and several nieces and nephews and their children.
Sharon was predeceased by her parents Robert and Regina, her sister Gladys Morgan and her husband Thomas Morgan, her brother Charles Welbert, and her in-laws James and Mary Melvin and their children Mary Burpoe (nee Melvin), Peggy Doleman (nee Melvin), James Melvin, Matthew Melvin, John Melvin, George Melvin, Thomas Melvin and William Melvin.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 4-8 PM, Friday, July 28, at the Cornelius, Dodd & Connell Funeral Home, 26 Grove St., Middletown, NY. Funeral services will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, July 29 at the funeral home, with Father Michael Palazzo officiating.
Interment will be in the family plot in the Ridgebury Cemetery, 12 Ridgebury Hill Road, Slate Hill, NY.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
