Robert W. Halstead Jr.

– Robert W. Halstead Jr., a lifelong area resident, entered into rest on Monday, May 15, 2023 at Catskill Regional Medical Center, Harris, NY. He was 76 years of age.

      Son of the late Robert and Lura Halstead, he was born on May 4, 1947 in Middletown, NY.

      Robert retired as a clerk for the Middletown Post Office in Middletown, NY.

      Robert proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corp during Vietnam. He was the recipient of the Combat Action Ribbon, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Navy Achievement Medal and the National Defense Medal. He was also an avid golfer.

      Survivors include: his fiancé Nora E. Halstead; his two children, Jarod Halstead and his wife Jen and Corey Halstead and his wife Anna; several grandchildren; his siblings, Dennis Halstead and his wife Margie, Dawn Habering and companion Mike, and Darcie Utter; numerous nieces & nephews; his sister-in-law Alice Houck and her husband Pete.  Robert was predeceased by his parents, his step-father Ellis McGarvey, and brothers William, Kenneth & David Halstead.

    Cremation took place at the Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery, Poughkeepsie, NY.

     A Celebration of Life will be held at 1 PM Wednesday, May 24th at the Otisville-Mt. Hope Presbyterian Church, 25 Main St., Otisville, NY. Military Honors will also be given. Reverend Jeffrey Farley will officiate.  

      Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
