Robert J. Cherry

     Robert J. Cherry, a lifelong area resident, entered into rest on Sunday, March 21, 2021 at the Garnet Health Medical Center in the Town of Wallkill, NY. He was 90 years of age.

     The son of the late Henry and Mary Cherry, he was born on December 8, 1930 in Goshen, NY, and was one of 21 children.

   Robert retired as a groundskeeper for the Middletown Psychiatric Center in Middletown. He was also caretaker for the Shawangunk Fish & Game Association for many years. Robert enjoyed spending time with his family, bowling, fishing, hunting, playing poker and gambling. He was also a huge fan of the Orange County Fair Speedway.

    Survivors include; the mother of his children, Flora M. Cherry; his children, Robert (Rosa) Cherry, Edward Cherry and Cindy Miller; his grandchildren, Lisa Birtch, Tommy Cherry, Tara Miller & John Miller and his wife Krystal; his great grandchildren, Marky, Jeremy, Brianna Storms, Madison Cherry, Robert & Bella Miller; his siblings, Alice Raymond, Marion Lichwick, Margaret Lynch & George Cherry; numerous  nieces & nephews. Robert was predeceased by his wife, Margaret Cherry and 16 siblings.

     A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 AM to 12 Noon Saturday, March 27th at the Cornelius, Dodd & Connell Funeral Home, 26 Grove St., Middletown, NY.

    Graveside Services will be held at 12:45 PM Saturday, March 27th at the Ridgebury Cemetery, Slate Hill, NY.

    Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, face masks and social distancing will be required. There are occupancy limitations, so a wait time may be experienced to enter the funeral home. 

   Memorial contributions in Robert’s name may be made to the charity of your choice.
