Richard A. Smith of Middletown, NY passed away on May 9, 2024 at Garnet Health Medical Center. He was 88. Richard was the widower to Marie Dibble Smith. Richard was born on May 4, 1936 in Middletown, NY to the late Kenneth Leroy Smith and Irma Bell Crance. He was an Industrial Mechanic for many years at Reynolds Metals in Middletown, NY. Richard was in the National Guard for 8 years, Battery A Charter Member as well as being a member of the Middletown Pistol and Rifle Association. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his daughter, Sandra Junta of Middletown; son-in-law, Joseph Scheuering of Chester, VA; grandchildren, Richard and Rohan Scheuering and Erin Junta; sister, Barbara LaForge; several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his wife Marie D. Smith; daughter, Sonya Scheuering; brothers, Robert, William and Stanley Smith; sister, Shirley Clark.

Memorial Contributions may be made to First Congregational Church of Middletown 35 E. Main Street Middletown, NY 10940.

Visitation will be held on Monday May 13, 2024 from 2-4 PM at the Cornelius Dodd and Connell Funeral Home, Inc. 26 Grove Street Middletown, NY 10940.

Cremation Cedar Hill Crematory
