Peter B. Zwart, a lifelong area resident, entered into rest on Tuesday, May 7, 2024 at the Delaware Valley Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Matamoras, PA. He was 93 years of age.
The son of the late Nicholas & Elsie Zwart, he was born on December 15, 1930 in Westtown, NY.
Peter was the retired owner & operator of the Montgomery Overall Service in Maybrook, NY. He was a member of the Harmony Baptist Church where he had served as trustee and treasurer. Peter was a member of the Hudson Valley Ramblers and enjoyed camping and traveling in his RV.
Survivors include his children; Ed Zwart (Dory), Bonnie Zylstra (John), Donna Thompson, Charlie Zwart (Susan), Arnie Zwart (Gina), Brian Zwart, Gail Sebring (Ed) & Linda Cormier (Lee); 17 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren; sister June VanderSchaaf; sister-in-law Arline Zwart Edwards; many nieces & nephews; wife Josephine’s children, James Meikle (Pamela) & Deborah Houck and their children. Peter was predeceased by his parents, his wives Marilyn Eckler Zwart & Josephine Meikle-Zwart, & brother Bertram Zwart.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 11 AM – 1 PM, Tuesday, May 14th at Harmony Baptist Church, 1790 Route 211 East, Middletown, NY. Funeral services will begin at 1 PM with Dr. Dennis Ashley officiating. Interment will follow the service at the Circleville Cemetery, Circleville, NY.
Memorial contributions may be made to Harmony Baptist Church or the Parkinson’s Foundation.
