Peter C. Decker, a lifelong area resident, entered into rest on Tuesday, May 27, 2025 with his beloved wife who he adored, at his side. He was 87 years of age.
The son of the late William S. & Charlotte Decker, he was born on October 8, 1937 in Middletown, NY.
Peter retired from Gilman’s Cleaners where he was employed as a salesman. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy where he worked as an Aviation Electro Mechanic’s Mate. Peter was a licensed pilot both in small engine planes and gliders. He loved flying so much that he and his wife bought a plane and flew on small trips around the area. He always loved riding horses and with his wife would ride through woods to look at the beautiful scenery and wild flowers that God created. He was a very generous man who loved people. Peter was a member of Middletown Elk’s Lodge No. 1097 and American Legion Post No. 151 both in Middletown.
Survivors include; his wife Elizabeth M. Decker, and they both loved each other unconditionally; his brother John Decker of Middletown; his mother-in-law, Marie E. Tice; and several nieces & nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Bill Decker and sister Nancy Burnham.
A visitation for family and friends will be held 3-5 PM Sunday, June 1st at Cornelius, Dodd & Connell Funeral Home, 26 Grove St., Middletown, NY. A graveside service with military honors will be held 11 AM Monday, June 2nd at the Wallkill Cemetery, 160 Midway Road, Middletown, NY.
