Welcome to the memorial page for

Mildred P. Dammeyer

March 15, 1937 ~ July 16, 2017 (age 80) 80 Years Old

Mildred P. Dammeyer, a lifelong area resident, entered into rest on Sunday, July 16, 2017 at Schervier Pavilion in Warwick, NY. She was 80 years of age.

The daughter of the late Carmine and Mildred Caslo Ferrara, she was born on March 15, 1937 in the Bronx, NY.

Mildred was a retired elementary school teacher in the Middletown School District and had taught in the Academy Avenue and Truman Moon Schools. She was a member of the New York State Retired Teachers Association, the Middletown Area Retired Teachers and the Redtown Residents Association. Mildred was also a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Walden, NY.

Our beloved mother, Mildred Dammeyer must have been born a teacher. She enjoyed traveling, camping, falls in Vermont, springs in Cape Cod, and cruising the Carribean. She used every new destination as a learning experience, forever teaching and learning about history and culture.

She was the ultimate working mother, she could work all day and have a pot roast ready for dinner along with a tidy home. Norman Rockwell-esque holidays were her specialty, always trying to make beautiful memories for her family.

The greatest joy of her life were her children, both her own three children, seven grandchildren and one great grandchild, but also her students. She was proud to say that during her time as a teacher, she taught two generations how to read. Her spirit will forever live on through the eyes of children and the wonderment they hold when learning something new.

Survivors include her husband, William H. Dammeyer Jr. at home in Middletown; her children, William H. Dammeyer III and his wife Jessica of Middletown, Jeffrey A. Dammeyer and his wife Kristine of Glenmont, NY, and Amy E. Dammeyer Hallock of Florida, NY; her grandchildren, Wayne Hallock, Andrew Hallock, Heather Hallock, Brandon Hallock, Tyler Dammeyer, Erika Dammeyer and Kyle Dammeyer; her great granddaughter Kaylee Von Hallock.

Family and friends may call at the Cornelius, Dodd & Connell Funeral Home, 26 Grove St., Middletown, NY on Thursday, July 20th from 5-8 PM. Funeral Services will be held at 12 Noon on Friday, July 21st at the Trinity Lutheran Church, 2520 Rte. 208, Walden, NY.  Reverend Raymond Cummings will officiate.
