Maureen Kerrigan, beloved mother, sister, aunt, friend and colleague who brought immeasurable joy and light into the lives of all who knew her, passed away on May 30th after a courageous battle with cancer that spanned over a decade. She was 65.
Maureen was born at Horton Hospital in Middletown, NY, to Rosemary and Frank Kerrigan. After graduating from Minisink Valley High School, she moved to New York City and began her career as a secretary at the Trump Organization. Upon returning to the Hudson Valley, Maureen's entrepreneurial spirit flourished. She opened her own flower shop, The Cutting Garden and later realized her vision and owned a successful and cherished restaurant, Caffe Allegro.
Maureen was always innovative and ahead of her time when it came to creativity. Many of her nieces and nephews had the joy of working alongside her at her beloved restaurant.
After closing that chapter of her life, Maureen transitioned into the medical field, working at Middletown Community Health Center and later at Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine in Middletown. She was always known for her reliability, warmth, and willingness to help. Students and colleagues alike found in Maureen a compassionate listener and a steady source of support.
She truly cherished every moment spent with her friends and family, colleagues & students.
Maureen is survived by her partner, Mark Glielmi, and her devoted sons, Joseph and James Glielmi. She is also survived by her siblings, Patrick, Brian, and Sheila; her many nieces and nephews; a wide circle of dear friends who all rarely left her side during these past difficult months.
Cremation took place at Cedar Hill Crematory, Newburgh, NY.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 AM Friday, June 6th at St. Joseph’s Church, 149 Cottage St., Middletown, NY. Interment will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Middletown.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Maureen’s honor to Achieve Rehab and Nursing Facility.
