Louis C. Ogden Jr., a lifelong area resident, entered into rest on Saturday, March 6, 2021 at Garnet Health Medical Center in the Town of Wallkill, NY. He was 74 years of age.
The son of the late Louis C. Ogden Sr. and Frances McLean Ogden, he was born on November 21, 1946 in Middletown, NY.
Lou proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1966 to 1970. He was a Russian interpreter while stationed in Japan. Following his service in the Navy, Lou joined the City of Middletown Police Department as a patrolman and became Police Chief in 1994 and retired as Chief in 2002. Lou continued as an adjunct professor teaching Criminal Justice at SUNY Orange.
Survivors include; his wife, Barbara J. Ogden, at home in Middletown; his sons, Louis C. Ogden III and his wife Lauren and their children William & Adeline of Middletown, and Brian M. Ogden of Middletown; his siblings, Frances Berger and her husband John of Mainville, OH, Betty Ann Ogden of Otisville, Dorothy Ogden Falls and her husband Rick of Poolsville, MD, Thomas D. Ogden of Lake Placid, FL and Daniel W. Ogden and Jane DeJong of Middletown; numerous nieces, nephews & cousins. Lou was predeceased by his parents, and his sister-in-law Diann Ogden.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 AM Wednesday, March 10th in St, Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, 149 Cottage St., Middletown, NY. Reverend Dennis Nikolic will be the celebrant. Interment will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Middletown, NY.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, face masks and social distancing will be required.
