Louis Michael Cerqua

– Louis Michael Cerqua, an area resident for most of his life, and formerly of Monroe, NY, entered into rest on Tuesday, September 27, 2022 at his home in New Hampton, NY. He was 89 years of age.

     The son of the late Michael and Millie Adamo Cerqua, he was born on September 7, 1933 in the Bronx, NY.

      Louis was a retired teacher having served in the New York City School System in the Bronx. Louis proudly served his country in the US Army from 1956 to 1958. He was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in South Centerville.

    Survivors include: his son, John J. Moore of New Hampton, NY; his brother, Thomas Cerqua and his wife Diane of Brewster, NY; many nieces & nephews. Louis was predeceased by his parents, and sister, Rachael Rizzo and her husband John.

    A visitation for family and friends will be held from 4-7 PM Friday, September 30th at the Cornelius, Dodd & Connell Funeral Home, 26 Grove St., Middletown, NY.

    A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, October 1st at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 626 County Road 22, Middletown, NY. Reverend Michael Palazzo will celebrate the Mass. Interment will take place 11 AM Monday, October 3rd in St. Raymond’s Cemetery, 2600 Lafayette Avenue, Bronx, NY.

   In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, 2361 Hylan Blvd, Staten Island, NY 10306.
