Leona M. Murray

    Leona M. Murray, a lifelong area resident, entered into rest on Monday, December 17, 2018 at her home in Circleville, NY. She was 88 years of age.

     The daughter of the late Clark and Mollie Koch Hinckley, she was born on January 28, 1930 in Middletown, NY.

    Leona retired as Administrative Manager with the New York State Department of Labor in the Middletown office. She was a lifelong member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Middletown. Leona loved singing as a member of the church choir. Leona was a member and former treasurer of the Middletown Garden Club.  She loved gardening and was an accomplished artist. Leona was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother and got great joy from planning trips and traveling with the family, especially to Long Beach Island.

    Survivors include: her beloved husband of 68 years, Charles W. Murray at home in Circleville; her children, Charles W. Murray Jr. and his wife Dr. Rosemary DeLeo of Kerhonkson, NY, Thomas C. Murray of New Paltz, NY and Marianne L. Murray and her husband Richard Rowley of New Paltz, NY; her grandchildren, Charles W. Murray III, Connor Murray, Carly Helen Murray, Lauren, Elizabeth and Andrew Rowley. Leona was predeceased by her daughter Peggy Lynn Murray and brothers Albert and Kenneth Hinckley.  

    Visitation for family and friends will be held from 2-4 PM Sunday, December 23rd at the Cornelius, Dodd & Connell Funeral Home, 26 Grove St., Middletown, NY. Funeral Services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in the Circleville Cemetery, Circleville, NY

   In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Leona’s name may be made to the Garden Lovers Club of Middletown c/o Deanna Hulseapple, 287 Derby Road, Middletown, NY 10940.
