Kenneth L. "Moonie" Johnston, a lifelong area resident, entered into rest on Friday, March 27, 2015 at the Orange Regional Medical Center in the Town of Wallkill, NY. He was 74 years of age.
The son of the late Lawrence H. and Mary McNeil Johnston, he was born on August 14, 1940 in Bainbridge, NY.
Moonie was a bartender for many years at Diana's Restaurant in Middletown. He had formerly worked in the produce departments of the A&P, Acme, and Finast supermarkets all in Middletown. He also previously worked for the Spaulding Bakery. Moonie was a member of Middletown Elks Lodge No. 1097.
Survivors include: his three children, Mickey L. Johnston of The Villages, FL, Terry Marie Steele and her husband Paul of Simi Valley, CA, and Kenneth L. Johnston Jr. of Burbank, CA; his grandchildren Samantha Lynn Johnston, Magdalena Rose Steele, and Harris Paul Steele.
Friends may call at the Cornelius, Dodd & Connell Funeral Home, 26 Grove St., Middletown, NY on Friday, April 10th from 3-7 PM.
Graveside Services will be held at 11 AM Saturday, April 11th at the Wallkill Cemetery, 160 Midway Road, Middletown, NY. The Reverend Daniel L. Hulseapple will officiate.
A Celebration of Moonie's Life and Memorial Gathering will be held on Sunday, April 12th from 12-3 PM at the Middletown Elks Lodge, Corner of Highland Ave. and Prospect St., Middletown, NY.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Cornelius, Dodd & Connell Funeral Home, Middletown, NY.
