Kenneth Halstead, a lifelong area resident, entered into rest on Thursday, July 1, 2021 at the Delaware Valley Skilled Nursing and Rehab Center in Matamoras, PA, from complications of dementia. He was 73 years of age.
Son of the late Robert and Lura Halstead Sr., he was born in Middletown, NY.
Ken was employed as a corrections officer with the Otisville State Correctional Facility in Otisville, NY and retired after 25 long years. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany. Ken enjoyed watching NASCAR and his favorite driver Dale Earnhardt. He enjoyed playing poker with Skip, Michael, Dapper and Dave. Ken was also an avid Mets Fan and loved skiing, going to concerts, fishing and playing horse shoes. He enjoyed family vacations at the Jersey shore, camping and rafting on the Delaware.
Survivors include; his loving wife of 39 years, Alice E. Halstead at home in Cuddebackville; his children, Eric Halstead and his companion Alyse Space of Bloomingburg, and Marissa Fuller and her husband Matthew of Sparrowbush, NY; his grandchildren, Gregory, Jackson & CJ Cabrera, Emma Fuller & Ethan Halstead; his brothers, Robert Halstead (Nora) of Monticello and Dennis Halstead (Margie) of Port Orange, FL; his sisters, Dawn Habernig and Darcie Utter both of Kingston; numerous nieces & nephews. Ken was predeceased by his step-father Ellis McGarvey, brothers David & William Halstead, father & mother-in-law Kenneth & Nancy Bowden, brother-in-laws Michael & Stephen Bowden.
Funeral services will be held privately and at the convenience of the family. Cremation will take place at the Cedar Hill Crematory, Newburgh, NY.
