Kenneth Frey Obituary

Kenneth A. Frey, a 50 year area resident, entered into rest unexpectedly on Monday, March 6, 2023 at Garnet Health Medical Center in the Town of Wallkill. He was 79 years of age.

Son of the late William and Estelle Frey, he was born on September 8, 1943 in Passaic, NJ.

Ken had been employed as Regional Sales Manager of Applied Innovations in Dublin, OH and most recently employed at Healey Brothers Ford in Goshen.

Ken was a member of the former First Baptist Church in Middletown and was a member of the Chancel Choir and served on the Board of Trustees. He was a member of Middletown Elks Lodge

No. 1097, the Sons of the American Legion, Post 151, former member of the Middletown Lions Club, former Little League Coach and Umpire in Middletown and former starter at the Orange County Stony Ford Golf Course.

Ken was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather with the most extensive memory and the best sense of humor of anyone we’ve ever known. There was not a favor he wouldn’t do and everyone he met was a friend. One could usually find him at his daughters’ swim meets or recitals, coaching his son’s Babe Ruth League baseball team, or helping to solve the world’s problems at the Elk’s Lodge or Legion Hall.

Ken, who was surprisingly sentimental (and was a great cook) had a beautiful singing voice and it was not unusual for family car trips to turn into harmonized sing-a-longs. If it were possible he would have saved every animal in the world, but it was his family to which he was most devoted. We will miss spending time with him watching Penn State football games, noir movies,  making and receiving Christmas shortbread, and epic trips to Sam’s Club. He was our greatest teacher and biggest fan and we cannot imagine our lives without him.

Survivors include: his loving wife, Barbara “Robbie” Frey at home in Middletown; his beloved children, Michele Moohr of Portsmouth, OH, Robyn Frey-Monell and her husband Ford of Long Beach, CA, and Kenneth A. Frey Jr. of Lake Ronkonkoma, NY; his cherished grandchildren Megan, Matthew, Richard, Davis & Hannah; numerous nieces, nephews & cousins. Ken was predeceased by his parents, and his brothers Roger & Leland Frey.

Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Cremation will take place at the Cedar Hill Crematory in Newburgh, NY.

Memorial contributions may be made to American Legion Post No. 151, 185 Wawayanda Ave., Middletown, NY 10940, Pets Alive, 363 Derby Road, Middletown, NY 10940 or to the World Wildlife Foundation, 1250 24th St. N.W., Washington, DC 20037
