Karen Joan Leoniuk, nicknamed “Smiley” for her irresistible smile and sparkling green eyes, entered into eternal rest on July 26, 2021. Karen, known to her grandchildren as Oma, had a soft spot in her heart for animals, and cats and dogs seemed to magically appear on her doorstep. A lover of naps, which she used to revitalize her spirit so that she always had a witty reply to aide her dry sense of humor and was well known for being brutally honest.
Karen worked in computer programming but had many other talents. She loved crafty projects, including ceramics, painting, costume making and all sorts of puzzles. She had the biggest heart out of anyone most people will ever encounter and could always see the good in people, no matter the circumstances. Her generosity and the time she spent volunteering to help others was tremendous. In addition to the dozens of dogs and cats that she cared for throughout her life, she also raised sheep for several years and kept an astounding number of houseplants which all flourished under her care.
