Joyce S. Sitrin

 Joyce S. Sitrin, a 57 year area resident, died Sunday, July 3, 2022 at Middletown Park Rehabilitation & Health Care Center in the Town of Wallkill, NY. She was 84 years of age.

    The daughter of the late Barney and Jeanne Schwartz Starr, she was born on August 14, 1937 in Brooklyn, NY.

    Joyce was a retired teacher, having taught elementary school for the Middletown School District for over 30 years. She graduated from Midwood High School in Brooklyn and Oswego State Teachers College. Joyce was a member of Temple Sinai in Middletown where she also taught Hebrew School. She was a member of the Sisterhood of Temple Sinai and Hadassah. Joyce was also a member of the Middletown Retired Teachers Association.

     Survivors include: her daughter, Ellen L. Sitrin of Middletown; her brother, Irwin Starr of San Jose, CA; 2 nieces and several great nieces & great nephews; her son-in-law, Edward Morris Rhodes Jr. of New Windsor. Joyce was predeceased by her husband, Herbert E. Sitrin and daughter, Susan Sitrin Rhodes.

    Graveside Services will be held at 1 PM Wednesday, July 6th at Temple Sinai Cemetery, Route 302, Circleville, NY. Rabbi Joel Schwab will officiate.
