J. Robert “Sug” Walker, 84, of Punta Gorda, FL passed away June 16, 2016. He was born May 8, 1932 in Middletown, NY. Robert moved to Punta Gorda March 1981 from Otisville, NY. He was a water treatment plant operator in Port Jervis, NY for many years slightly changing his career working at Charlotte County School District of Punta Gorda. Robert was an honorary life member of Middletown Elks Lodge 1097, was elected Councilman and also served as Supervisor & Police Chief of the town of Mount Hope, served a term as Fire Chief of the Otisville Volunteer Fire Dept. 4, co-organized the Otisville Youth Basketball League, former Minor League player with the St. Louis Browns Baseball Organization, officiated multiple high school sports, former Otisville Little League Manager, member of Mountaineer Hunting Club of Wurtsboro, NY and member of Otisville Mt. Hope Presbyterian Church.
Robert is survived by his wife, Mary Lou Walker, daughters, Debra (Dominic) Cambareri of Otisville, NY; step-daughters, Donna (Paul) Ruscher, Lorelei Ann Anderson, Mary Elizabeth (Rich) Klenk; sons, Robert (Kim) Walker of Wurtsboro, NY, step son, Donald (Mary) McLean of Tybee Island, GA; brother, Roy Walker of North Port; 5 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; 15 step-grandchildren; 12 step great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Willard and Marion Walker.
Graveside Services will be held at 11 AM Saturday, September 9, 2017 at the Mt. Hope Plains Cemetery, Otisville, NY. Reverend Mason Whitley will officiate.

Local arrangements have been entrusted to Cornelius, Dodd & Connell Funeral Home, Middletown, NY.
