Irma R. Sattarelle

    Irma R. Sattarelle passed away on Friday, December 22, 2023.  She was 96.

   The daughter of the late Charles Davis Newcomb and Laura Belle Atkinson Newcomb and widow of Louis J. Sattarelle, who passed away in 1965.

   She was born on October 5, 1927 in Somerville, MA.  She attended North

Congregational Church in Middletown.

   Irma was Town of Wallkill Deputy Town Clerk/Registrar from 1973 to1977 and

Town Clerk/Registrar from 1978 to 1995, the first Treasurer of Orange/Sullivan

Town Clerk’s Association, Past Secretary and long-time member of the Town of

Wallkill Republican Club, Town of Wallkill Seniors and Happy Seniors.

   Survivors include two daughters, Susan Thompson and Lisa Sattarelle both of

Middletown.  Two granddaughters Sarah Thompson of Middletown and Katie

Hopper and husband Fred of Montgomery.  Also, one very special niece Trish Fogarty Miles, one great nephew Tyler Miles, one great niece Kyra Miles all of Florida and several other nieces, nephews and cousins.

   Irma was predeceased by two sisters, Dorothy Weckerly and Elizabeth Fogarty and four brothers, Charles, Robert, Donald and Gerald Newcomb.

   Irma loved people, her family and animals of all kinds. She was an avid reader and thought everyone should be kind and just be happy.  She always joked about her initials IRS.

   Visitation will be from 4 to 7 PM Wednesday, December 27, 2023 at Cornelius, Dodd & Connell Funeral Home, 26 Grove Street, Middletown, NY.  Funeral service will be at the Funeral Home on Thursday, December 28, 2023 at 10:00 AM with Reverend Robert Everett officiating.  Burial will be in Scotchtown Cemetery at the convenience of the family.

   In lieu of flowers, kindly make a donation in Irma’s name to Middletown Humane Society.

   Arrangements have been entrusted to Cornelius, Dodd & Connell Funeral Home, Middletown, NY.
