- Helen Wolf Suresky, 94, passed away at Moorings Park in Naples, Florida on January 18, 2024.
Helen was born November 7, 1929 on the Lower East Side of Manhattan. Her parents were
Simon and Rose Salzhauer Wolf who immigrated to America from Austria/Hungary. Helen’s
Dad, Simon, passed away tragically when Helen was 3 years old leaving Rose to raise the
entire family.
Helen was the retired President of R I Suresky & Sons, Inc. in Goshen, New York. She is a
1947 graduate of Walton High School in the Bronx, New York. She is a 1951 graduate of Hunter
College receiving a Bachelor of Science Degree in Sociology with a minor in Education. She
began her career as a school teacher in Harlem, New York City. She joined the Suresky family
business later on. She is responsible for the continued success of a family owned and operated
business that is now 108 years old. She single handedly obtained the Hyundai franchise which
today is the lifeblood of the business. Helen was the first female automobile dealer to serve on
the Dodge Dealer Council in New York. Her career prospered due to a strong personality in
spite of a male dominated automobile industry of her era.
Helen was married by her brother in-law, Rabbi Moshe Goldblum to Harold on November 2,
1952, at the Hebrew Community Center in Middletown, New York. They were married for 71
years. They had dinner with each other every night right to the end of Helen’s life. Helen was
the matriarch of the family. She loved her family. Helen personally participated in multiple
activities within the local community. Some of those endeavors included coaching tiny league
baseball, being a Den Mother of Goshen Pack #65, organizing a teen center in Goshen in the
1960’s through her participation on the Goshen Joint Recreation Commission, was instrumental
in helping obtain the property for the current Goshen Town Park, was active in Temple Sinai
Sisterhood, as well as many charitable contributions.
Helen is survived by her husband Harold of 71 years, her daughter Suzanne (Paul) Passeri of
Danvers, Massachusetts, her son Peter (Marcela Cardoso) Suresky of Atlanta, Georgia, her son
Joseph (Lorraine) Suresky of Goshen, her grandchildren Gregory (Elisabeth) Passeri, Julianne
(Guy) Passeri Mitrano, Jordan Suresky, Alexandra Suresky, Nicolas Suresky, Jared Suresky,
Rachel Suresky, 3 great grand-children Andrew Passeri, Hank Mitrano and Viviana Mitrano, her
sister-in-law Corinne Suresky Bednarik, her nephews Dr. Simeon Goldblum, Full Bird Colonel
David Goldblum, Charles Goldblum, Dr. Scott Wolf, Rick Robinson, Andrew Suresky, her nieces
Dr. Liba Goldblum Baraban, Orah Goldblum, Heather Bonime, Lisa Wolf, Nancy Smith Walters,
and many other cousins. Helen is predeceased by her parents Simon and Rose Wolf, brothers
Herbert (Leatrice) Wolf, Robert Wolf, sister Evelyn (Rabbi Moshe Goldblum), sister in-law
Marilyn Robinson (Dr. Alan Robinson), brother in-law Dr. Philip Suresky, and niece Linda Martin.
Funeral services will be held 10 AM Monday, January 22nd at Temple Sinai, 75 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY. Rabbi Emily Cobert will officiate. Interment will follow in the Temple Sinai Cemetery, Circleville, NY
