Hazel M. Budd, a lifelong area resident, entered into rest on Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at her home in Otisville, NY. She was 90 years of age.
The daughter of the late Robert M. and Alta Smith Horton, she was born on July 6, 1930 in Middletown, NY.
Hazel retired as a therapy aide at the Middletown Psychiatric Center in Middletown.
Hazel was a member of the C.S.E.A., the Otisville Grange No. 1020, and the Otisville-Mt. Hope Seniors.
Our Mom was able to show us all of her love and respect, but most importantly, her strength and devotion to her family. After our Dad’s passing on January 14, 2021, she couldn’t overcome the emotions of losing her husband of 67 years. Her children can clearly see that our Mom succumbed to a broken heart after 13 days of missing her beloved “Babe”.
Our Mom and Dad were able to enjoy all of the “Fruits of Their Labor” and enjoy a spectacular retirement together with so many of their lifelong friends and family. We are so grateful for that! She enjoyed family gatherings and making many ceramic pieces for her family.
The family would like to thank Dr. Robert Dinsmore and the Hospice West Staff for their kind and compassionate care.
Survivors include; her loving children, Tamara L. Burch of Otisville, Verna A. Brigman Baran and her husband George of Goshen, NY and Darrell F. Budd of Otisville; her 6 grandchildren, Sean, Kara, Ronald, Allison, Andrea & Brandon; her 9 great grandchildren, Tanner, Autumn, Michael, Ronald, Chloe, Ashlyn, Cayleigh, Beau & Rhett; sister Mildred House of Alamogordo, NM; many nieces & nephews. Hazel was predeceased by her husband of 67 years Hugh F. Budd, her daughter, Jo-Ann Barile, brother Robert Horton and sister Gladys Horton.
Cremation will take place at the Cedar Hill Crematory, Newburgh, NY.
A Celebration of Life will be scheduled at a later date.
Memorial contributions in Hazel’s memory may be made to Hospice of Orange & Sullivan Counties Inc., 800 Stony Brook Court, Newburgh, NY 12550.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Cornelius, Dodd & Connell Funeral Home, Middletown, NY.
