Harold Smith, a Middletown resident since 2004 and formerly of Monticello, NY, died Monday, November 24th at Middletown Park in the Town of Wallkill, NY. He was 87 years of age.
The son of the late Leonard and Betty Fund Smith, he was born on July 6, 1938 in Bronx, NY.
Harold was a loving father and grandfather. His eyes lit up whenever hearing about his grandchildren. He made everyone laugh and had the best sense of humor. He was employed at the Concord Hotel as a bar waiter for many years and also served in the Army Reserve. He was an avid Yankee fan all of his life. Harold loved watching his NY Giants and horse racing. For many years he devoted his time to taking care of his loving wife Carole who was sick on and off for years and eventually passed away in 2012.
The family would like to thank everyone at Middletown Park Rehab where he has been for almost 13 years. They have been so caring and absolutely amazing in every way. He will be in our hearts forever.
Survivors include: his two daughters, Amy Hogan and husband Greg of Middletown and Janice O’Brien Kroeger and husband Keith of Greenwood Lake; five grandchildren, Breanna, Brendan, Brigitte, Spencer and Liam. Harold also had two great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Carole, brother Bernard Smith and son-in-law Desmond O’Brien.
Graveside Services will be held 11 AM Sunday, November 30th at Temple Sinai Cemetery, Route 302, Circleville, NY. Rabbi David Sislen will officiate.
