Gerta Seligman Obituary
On August 15, 2021, Gerta Seligman passed away peacefully in her sleep.
Born on September 6, 1920, she was 100 years old; 3 weeks shy of her next birthday.
A 70+ year resident of Middletown, she was well-loved and respected in the community.
Gerta was the mother of 3 children who were all raised in Middletown---Joann Hargabus, of Middletown, Nanette Greene of Newtown CT, and Stephen Seligman of San Francisco, CA., as well as 2 beloved granddaughters, Casey Seligman and Abigail Greene.
Original owners of Art’s Cleaners in Middletown, Gerta and her husband Arthur, who died in 1981, worked tirelessly to provide opportunity for their children. Gerta would proudly boast about her family's successes and accomplishments.
Gerta's sister Elli, is 97 and resides in Queens, NY. Gerta is predeceased by her parents,
Max and Flora Gunzenhauser.
Funeral services will be held at 1 pm Wednesday, August 18th, at Temple Sinai
75 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY. Rabbi Emily Cobert will officiate. Interment will be in Temple Sinai Cemetery, Circleville, NY.
