Gerald J. Melanson Sr.

  Gerald J. Melanson Sr., a 47 year area resident, entered into rest on Monday, April 20, 2026 at the Valley View Center in Goshen, NY. He was 80 years of age.

   The son of the late Clorice and Georgina Robichaud Melanson, he was born July 20, 1945 in St. Paul, New Brunswick, Canada.

   Gerald retired in June 2007 as a machine operator for the Metal Container Corporation in New Windsor, NY. He attended St. Joseph’s Church in Middletown and was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Gerald enjoyed going fishing, was a hockey fan supporting the Montreal Canadians and a NY Yankees fan.

     Survivors include his wife, Rita Melanson; his son, Gerald J. Melanson Jr. and his wife Elizabeth of Bloomingburg; daughter, Paula Wormuth and husband Steve of Ellenville; his grandchildren Kristen Lopez and husband Jon, Jamie House, Brian Melanson and his fiancé Krystal Gilbert & Kaitlyn Fisher and husband Michael; his great grandchildren Caleb, Eero, Maverick & Sadie; his brothers Clarence Melanson & Romeo Jaillet; sisters Anita Dryden and husband Raymond and Rosetta Melanson and her partner Audie. Gerald was predeceased by his first wife Cecilia Melanson, and siblings Clorice & Oscar Melanson & Yvette Russell.

     A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6-8 PM Wednesday, May 6th at Cornelius, Dodd & Connell Funeral Home, 26 Grove St., Middletown, NY. A private interment service for family members will take place at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Middletown. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 2649 South Road #101, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601.
