Ellen R. Higby

Ellen R. Higby, a lifelong area resident, entered into rest on Sunday, February 25, 2024 at Sapphire Nursing & Rehabilitation at Goshen in Goshen, NY. She was 91 years of age.

    The daughter of the late Martin and Mary Doona Bockis, she was born on April 16, 1932 in Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY.

    Ellen was retired and was formerly employed at the Bank of New York. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Church in Middletown and the Orange County Antique Car Club.

   Survivors include: her husband Donald R. Higby at home in Middletown; 2 sons, 1 daughter, 1 brother & 3 sisters; 5 grandchildren, 1 great granddaughter & several nieces & nephews.

    A visitation for family and friends will be held from 5-7 PM Wednesday, February 28th at the Cornelius, Dodd & Connell Funeral Home, 26 Grove St., Middletown, NY. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Thursday, February 29th at the funeral home. Interment will follow in the Wallkill Cemetery, 160 Midway Road, Middletown, NY.

    Memorial contributions in Ellen’s name may be made to the American Cancer Society, 121 Executive Drive, New Windsor, NY 12553.

    Arrangements have been entrusted to Cornelius, Dodd & Connell Funeral Home, Middletown, NY.
