Elaine Smith

Elaine Smith, of Commack, NY and formerly of Middletown, NY, died Wednesday, November 8, 2023 at Hospice House in East Northport, NY. She was 91 years of age.

    The daughter of the late Harry and Anna Panitz Rosenberg, she was born on November 6, 1932 in Bronx, NY.

   Elaine had been employed as a bookkeeper at the Mid-Hudson Forensic Psychiatric Center in New Hampton, NY. She was a member of Temple Sinai in Middletown and a member of Hadassah and the Sisterhood of Temple Sinai.

    Survivors include: her children, Maralyn Sobel and her husband Lloyd of Plainview, NY, Andrea Zakaim and her husband Elvis of Paramus, NJ, and Lisa Siegel and her husband Jeffrey of Commack, NY; 7 grandchildren & 5 great grandchildren; her sister, Phyllis Spinner and her husband Ervin of Montreal, Canada, and brother Sheldon Rosenberg and his wife Joan of Manhattan; and several nieces & nephews. Elaine was predeceased by her parents and her former husband David Smith.

    Graveside services will be held at 1 PM Thursday, November 9th at Temple Sinai Cemetery, Circleville, NY. Rabbi Joel Schwab will officiate.
