Edward A, Collins

     Edward A. Collins, a lifelong area resident, entered into rest on Saturday, May 21, 2022 at Garnet Health Medical Center in the Town of Wallkill, NY. He was 98 years of age.

     The son of the late Albert and Marion Collins, he was born on June 2, 1923 in Otisville, NY.

      Ed had been employed in the heating department of Orange County Plumbing Supply and retired as Vice President in 1989, he continued to work part time until 1997.

     Ed graduated from Otisville High School in 1942. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in January of 1943 and served with the 1958th Ord Depot Company. He was sent overseas in December of 1943. He landed on Omaha Beach D Day +30 and on to France and Belgium.  He attended Marietta College, Marietta OH where he met his wife Janice, and they married in June of 1948.

   Ed was a member of the former Webb Horton Memorial Presbyterian Church in Middletown where he served as Deacon, Elder and Cub Master of Pack No. 52. Ed was a former chairman of the Zoning Board of Appeals in the City of Middletown. He was a member of American Legion Post 151 and Middletown Elks Lodge No. 1097 and the Golden Age Seniors of Mulberry House.

    Survivors include: his loving wife, Janice Collins at home in Middletown; his son Richard E. Collins and his wife Joanne Kennedy of Monsey, NY; his daughter Deborah Neuburger of Middletown; his granddaughter Jennifer Neuburger of Middletown; his brother Harvey W. Collins and his wife Barbara of Loveland, CO  and several nieces & nephews. Ed was predeceased by his parents, and his sister Janet Cromie.

    A visitation for family and friends will be held from 3-7 PM Wednesday, May 25th at the Cornelius, Dodd & Connell Funeral Home, 26 Grove St., Middletown, NY. Middletown Elks Lodge will conduct services at 6 PM. THE FAMILY REQUIRES THE WEARING OF MASKS AT THE FUNERAL HOME.

    Graveside Services will be held at 11 AM Thursday, May 26th at the Mt. Hope Plains Cemetery, Otisville NY with military honors. Reverend Jeffrey Farley will officiate.

   In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hudson Valley Honor Flight, P.O. Box 375, Walden, NY 12586.
