Dr. Fred Levinson

 Dr. Fred Levinson, Obstetrician-Gynecologist, a longtime resident of Middletown, passed away peacefully at age 94 on April 25, 2025 surrounded by his family.

   Son of the late Ann and Sidney Levinson, Fred was born in Homburg, Germany and emigrated with his parents to the United States at the age of 5.

   Fred and his parents lived in the Bronx when he was growing up. He attended Syracuse University where he met Ann Kaufman and they were married in 1952. Fred attended medical school in Basel, Switzerland and they started their family there. After an internship and residency in the Bronx, the family came to Middletown in 1963 and he began his OB/GYN medical practice. He took on many roles within Horton Hospital as Chief of Staff, Chairman of the Board, and Chairman of the Dept of OB/GYN. He was also very involved with Occupations for 24 years and served as Chairman of the Board for 4 years. He was a member of the NY State Board for Professional Conduct, a division of the Dept of Health for a number of years and also a member of the Rotary Club for many years. 

   Fred was pre-deceased by Ann in 2017. He is survived by his 3 daughters Elise Glynn (Jim), Susan Levinson (David Schwartz) and Karen Levinson (Ron Basso) and his grandson, Cary Glynn (Jenya). He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Michael Schneider and 4 nieces and a nephew. 

   Fred and Ann enjoyed many exciting worldwide travel experiences. They also enjoyed snow skiing and boating on the Hudson River, Long Island Sound, and Florida waterways. They had a second home in Port St. Lucie, FL for many years. 

   Fred and Ann moved to Teaneck, NJ in 2012.

   In accordance with the family’s wishes, funeral services will be private.
