Doris R. Sugrue, a 43 year area resident, entered into rest on Wednesday, May 20, 2026 at her home in Middletown. She was 100 years of age.
The daughter of the late Henry & Florence Valiquette, she was born on January 8, 1926 in the Bronx, NY.
Doris retired from American Bank Note in Spring Valley, NY where she had served as an Examiner. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church in Middletown and was a member of the Graphic Arts International Union.
Survivors include: her children, Diana Stenson & her husband Richard of Yonkers, John J. Sugrue Jr. of Middletown, & Michael P. Sugrue & his wife Lilian of New Winsor; her grandchildren, Katherine P. Schmidt & her husband Paul, Karen M. Adam & her husband Edward, Scott Sugrue & his wife Trish, Cynthia Prone & her husband Daniel, & Holly Gillen; her great grandchildren, Stefanie Schmidt, Amie Schmidt, Daman Sugrue, Leland & Roman Gillen & Skylar Sugrue; her niece Debbie Mazzia. Doris was predeceased by her husband John J. Sugrue Sr. and her grandchildren Kelly Ann Sugrue & Christopher W. Sugrue.
A visitation for family & friends will be held from 7-9 PM Tuesday, May 26th at Cornelius, Dodd & Connell Funeral Home, 26 Grove St., Middletown, NY.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered 11 AM Wednesday, May 27th at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, 149 Cottage St., Middletown, NY. Interment will be in the family plot in St. Joseph’s Cemetery following the Mass.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Cornelius, Dodd & Connell Funeral Home, Middletown, NY.
