David Smith Obituary

– David Smith, a 70 year area resident, died Thursday, July 7, 2022 at Huntington Hills Center for Health & Rehabilitation in Huntington Township, NY. He was 92 years of age.

        The son of the late Philip and Frieda Cohen Smith, he was born on January 15, 1930 in Manhattan, NY.

        Dave was the owner of Dave Smith’s Auto Body Shop in Middletown, NY, and spent the last 10 years living in Commack, NY. He was a member of Temple Sinai and the Men’s Club of the Temple. He served for many years on the Temple Sinai Cemetery Committee and was a long time member of B’nai Brith.  David proudly served his country and was a retired Lt. Col. of the U.S. Army Reserves.

    Survivors include: his former wife, Elaine Smith of Commack, NY; his daughters, Maralyn Sobel and her husband E. Lloyd Sobel of Plainview, NY, Andrea Zakaim and her husband Elvis of Paramus, NJ and Lisa Siegel and her husband Jeffrey of Commack, NY; 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Dave was predeceased by his siblings, Al Smith, Rose Laub, Sam Smith and Ed Smith.

    Graveside Services will be held at 1 PM Friday, July 8th at the Temple Sinai Cemetery, Route 302, Circleville, NY. Rabbi Joel Schwab will officiate.

    Memorial contributions may be made to Temple Sinai, 75 Highland Ave., Middletown, NY 10940.

   Arrangements have been entrusted to Cornelius, Dodd & Connell Funeral Home, Middletown, NY.
