David M. Martin, a lifelong area resident, entered into rest on Sunday, July 21, 2024 at the Westchester Medical Center, Valhalla, NY. He was 88 years of age.
The son of the late Percy and Bessie Martin, he was born on June 29, 1936 in Middletown, NY.
David had been employed at the Ford Motor Company as General Foreman and after his retirement from Ford, ran his own home improvement business. He was a member and former trustee of the First Congregational Church in Middletown. Dave was a Life Member of Middletown Elks Lodge No. 1097, former member of the New Hampton Fire Co., he bowled in various leagues and in the firemen’s league. He was a standout athlete playing fast pitch softball and baseball and played semi-pro ball.
David married the love of his life on October 28, 1956 and they were married for almost 68 years.
Survivors include: his loving wife, Kathryn Martin; his children, Cynthia Randall and her husband Michael, Patricia Martin and her companion Keith Karpinski, Jill Chancey and her husband Mark, Daniel Martin and his wife Mary Kay and Timothy Martin and his wife Tonya; 8 grandchildren, Kristine, Jeremy, Sherri, Timothy Jr., Joey, Caroline, Andrew & Keira; 5 great grandchildren, Dylan, Breanna, David, Anthony & Dominick; his sister, Joyce Cosgrove; many nieces & nephews. David was predeceased by his siblings, Roberta, Kathleen, Jean & Phillip.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6-8 PM Wednesday, July 24th at Cornelius, Dodd & Connell Funeral Home, 26 Grove St., Middletown, NY
Funeral Services will be held 11 AM Thursday, July 25th in the First Congregational Church, 35 East Main St., Middletown, NY. Pastor John Velez will officiate. Interment will be in the Ridgebury Cemetery, Slate Hill, NY.
