– David J. Flannery, a lifelong area resident, entered into rest on Thursday, August 4, 2022 at Garnet Health Medical Center in the Town of Wallkill, NY. He was 86 years of age.
The son of the late John Patrick and Katherine Sites Flannery, he was born on September 5, 1935 in Goshen, NY.
David had been employed in construction management with DJF Associates and was also co-owner of the former Elegant Peasant Restaurant in Slate Hill with his late wife Eleanor C. Flannery. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. David was a member of the Polish Legion of American Veterans Post 16 in Pine Island, a Life Member of Middletown Elks Lodge No. 1097, and an avid Jimmy Sturr fan and follower.
Survivors include: his children, Jacqueline M. Soechting and her husband Jay of Kingston, NY, David J. Flannery of Cuyahoga Falls, OH, Kevin A Flannery and his wife Jacqueline of Kent, OH, and Shannon D. James and her husband Andrez of Middletown, NY; his grandchildren, Michael Nelson, Liana & Alaina James, Michael Soechting, Victoria Soechting, Joshua Soechting, Hannah & Lydia Flannery; his sisters, Katherine Foerster of Highland Falls, NY and Barbara McKnight of San Diego, CA and numerous nieces & nephews. David was predeceased by his wife Eleanor C. Flannery and brother John Gordon Flannery.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 2-4 & 7-9 PM Thursday, August 11th at the Cornelius, Dodd & Connell Funeral Home, 26 Grove St., Middletown, NY. Middletown Elks Lodge will conduct services at 7:30 PM.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 AM Friday, August 12th at St. John the Evangelist Church, 71 Murray Ave., Goshen, NY. Interment with military honors will follow at St. John’s Cemetery, Goshen, NY.
