Charles J. Guerra

    Charles J. Guerra, a 50 year area resident, entered into rest on Monday, November 1, 2021 at the Garnet Health Medical Center in the Town of Wallkill, NY.  He was 82 years of age.

     Son of the late Anthony and Diana Mango Guerra, he was born on May 23, 1939 in North Bergen, NJ.

    Charles was a self-employed insurance broker and formerly owner of an oil burner service and was a licensed locksmith. Charles was an ordained priest with the Western Orthodox Church in America and ran a correspondence school known as Holy Trinity Educational Institute. He also proudly served in the U.S. Army Reserves.

    Survivors include; his son, Zachary J. Cogon and his wife Tina of Middletown; his grandson, John Z. Cogon of Middletown; his brother, Anthony Guerra of Bogota, NJ and sister, Jeanine Mango of North Bergen, NJ. He was predeceased by his wife Catherine Guerra and brothers Joseph & James Guerra.

   A visitation for family and friends will be held from 4-7 PM Friday, November 5th at Cornelius, Dodd & Connell Funeral Home, 26 Grove St., Middletown, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9:30 AM Saturday, November 6th at St. Joseph’s Church, 149 Cottage St., Middletown, NY. Interment will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Middletown, NY.
