Charles Caracappa

     Charles Caracappa, a 40 year resident of Middletown, NY entered into rest on Saturday, February 13, 2021 at Garnet Health Medical Center. He was 78 years of age.

     Son of the late Frank and Mary Caracappa, he was born on May 25th 1942 in Brooklyn, NY.

    He graduated from Lafayette High School in Gravesend, Brooklyn in 1960. Charley proudly served his country in the U.S Army during the Vietnam War and was stationed in Chicago, IL. Charley met his future bride at work in Manhattan and got married October 11, 1969. They finally settled in their permanent home in Middletown, NY in 1979 with their 3 children. 

He took great pride in his Gravesend-Brooklyn upbringing, his Italian heritage, and working in Manhattan. He loved TV, cooking, planting/gardening, good food & Budweiser tall necks. 

A forever fan of the NY Mets.

    He was a very fun father & grandfather and dedicated to his wife. Family was all he needed. Charley was a very simple man and easy to please. He will be greatly missed.

    Survivors include; his loving wife of 51 years, Marianne Caracappa at home in Middletown; his children, Cheryl M. Reymaniak and her husband Chris of New Hampton, NY; Jennifer A. Caracappa and her fiance Brian Gaudino of Massachusetts; and Charles A. Caracappa of New Jersey; his 3 Grandchildren, Hunter, Amanda & Sophie; brothers Anthony of Pennsylvannia and Bobby and his wife Sherry of Brooklyn, NY; His sister-in-law Gina O'Shaughnessy and her husband Jerry of Peekskill, NY. Charley was predeceased by his parents, and brothers Joseph and Gaspare.

    A visitation for family and friends will be held from 2 - 6 PM Wednesday, February 17th at the Cornelius, Dodd & Connell Funeral Home, 26 Grove St., Middletown, NY.

    Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, face masks and social distancing will be required. There are occupancy limitations, so a wait time may be experienced to enter the funeral home. 

   Graveside services with military honors will be held at 11 AM Thursday, February 18th at Orange County Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 111 Craigville Road, Goshen, NY.  Deacon Richard Trapani will officiate.

   Memorial contributions in Charley’s name may be made to Hospice of Orange & Sullivan Counties Inc., 800 Stony Brook Court, Newburgh, NY 12550.

   Arrangements have been entrusted to Cornelius, Dodd & Connell Funeral Home, Middletown, NY.
