Arthur Grebeldinger

- Arthur Grebeldinger, 97, of Otisville, NY passed peacefully in his home surrounded by family on Tuesday, October 8, 2024.

    Born to parents Frank and Helen Grebeldinger on May 1, 1927 in Wurtsboro, NY, and was raised by his step-mother Irene after his mother’s death. Art had a deep affinity for Pine kill in Westbrookville where he grew up. He could often be found hunting, fishing and visiting lifelong best friend, Bucky Cote.

    Once married to wife Shirley in 1950, Art settled down and built a home in Otisville next to his father and stepmother where he raised his family and lived the remainder of his 74 years. Love and laughter were never in short supply through their 69 years of marriage as Art and Shirley enjoyed hosting family gatherings. A shared love of gardening, Art and Shirley would never let a visitor leave empty handed, offering home grown vegetables, canned fruits and pickled vegetables with every visit.

    A World War II Army veteran and innovative mind, Art was a man that valued service to others and was always willing to help anyone in need. He worked as a plumber for the State of New York at the Otisville Training School for Boys. He then continued work at the Mid - Hudson Psychiatric Center where he retired in April 1987.

     Survivors include; sons, Mark Grebeldinger and his wife Ginny of Otisville, Jeffrey Grebeldinger and his wife Lisa of Otisville and daughter-in-law Betsey Grebeldinger of Madbury, NH; his grandchildren, Brian Grebeldinger and his wife Friederike, Crystal Cardone and husband B.J., Andrew (A.J.) Grebeldinger and his wife Ashley and Lindsey Grebeldinger-Stewart and her husband Joshua; his great grandchildren Lilly, Lina, Calla, Caylee, Avery, Ashlyn, Greyson, and Leon.

    Art was predeceased by his brother Frank Grebeldinger, sister Isabel Rasmussen, wife Shirley Grebeldinger, and son Randy Grebeldinger.

    A visitation for family and friends will be held from 2-4 PM Sunday, October 13th at  Cornelius, Dodd & Connell Funeral Home, 26 Grove St., Middletown, NY.

     Graveside Services with military honors will be held 11 AM Monday, October 14th at

Mt. Hope Plains Cemetery, 13 Mt. Hope Ave., Otisville, NY. Reverend Dorinda Violante will officiate.
