Arlene V. Wessels, a lifelong area resident, entered into rest on Tuesday, February 6, 2024 at her home in Otisville, NY. She was 82 years of age.
The daughter of the late Donald and Laura Emge Pearce, she was born on July 15, 1941 in Sparrow Bush, NY.
Arlene most recently was a homemaker but previously was a real estate salesperson and broker, and also was the bookkeeper for Wessels Farms in Otisville. Arlene was a member and former choir member and had served on the memorial committee of the Otisville – Mt. Hope Presbyterian Church. She was a member of the Red Hat Society, the Otisville Garden Club, and former Girl Scout and Brownie Leader. Arlene and her husband of 65 years were members of the Good Sam Club, and traveled extensively in their mobile home “Moby”, and managed to visit every state in the continental U.S.
Survivors include: her husband of 65 years, Alfred Wessels at home in Otisville; her children, Susan Petak and Michael A. Wessels and his wife Lyn both of Otisville; 3 grandchildren, Brittany Petak, Matthew Wessels & Gabrielle Wessels; 3 great grandchildren, Hunter, Clair & Ayden; her brother, Richard Pearce & wife Donna of Sebastian, FL; niece Karen Wahl & nephew David Pearce. Arlene was predeceased by her parents and sister Lorraine Price.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 2-5 PM Sunday, February 11th at the Cornelius, Dodd & Connell Funeral Home, 26 Grove St., Middletown, NY. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Monday, February 12th at the Otisville-Mt. Hope Presbyterian Church, Main St., Otisville, NY. Reverend Jeffrey Farley will officiate. Interment will follow in the Mt. Hope Plains Cemetery, Otisville.
