Arland F. Kirby, a lifelong area resident, entered into rest on Friday, July 28, 2017 at the Orange Regional Medical Center in the Town of Wallkill, NY. He was 88 years of age.
The son of the late Fred Leslie and Sara Crane Kirby, he was born on November 11, 1928 in Middletown, NY.
Arland was a retired dairy farmer. He was a member of the Ridgebury/Denton Presbyterian Church where he served as Trustee and Elder. He was also a member of the Mid-Hudson Driving Club and had served as a committeeman for many local agricultural organizations.
Survivors include his children, Linda K. Driscoll and her husband James of Middletown, Leslie E. Kirby and his wife Tammy of Middletown, David A. Kirby and his wife Susan of Zionsville, PA and John F. Kirby and his wife Lisa of Syracuse, NY; his grandchildren, Joanne and Frank Nowicki, Jim and Mims Driscoll, Jessica and Jason Baker, Jennifer and Tyler Troutman, Jacquelyn and Jonathan Schloicka, Julie and Paul Higby, Douglas and Heather Kirby, Andrea and Jeff Burback, Jessica and Jason Terpstra, Debra and Ted Traini, Derick Kirby, Candace and Tyler Bemont, John and Amy Kirby, Valerie and Andrew Tucker, and Tonia and Jesse Axtell; 33 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews; and his dear friend Marie Wickham of Middletown. Arland was predeceased by his wife Dorothy C. Kirby, his brother Charles Kirby, sister-in-law Betty Kirby, sister Doris Clark and brother-in-law Mortimer Clark.
Family and friends may call from 4-7 PM Monday, July 31st at the Cornelius, Dodd & Connell Funeral Home, 26 Grove St., Middletown, NY. Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM Tuesday, August 1st at the First Presbyterian Church of Denton, 22 Denton Hill Road, New Hampton, NY. Reverend Peter Johnson will officiate. Interment will follow at the Pine Hill Cemetery in the Town of Wawayanda.
