Alfred J. “Duffy” Hopper, a lifelong area resident of Middletown, NY and formerly Spring Valley, NY, entered into rest on Monday, September 19, 2022 at his home in Murrells Inlet, SC. He was 63 years of age.
The son of the late Charles and Frances Gallo Hopper, and raised by the late Margaret Dutko, he was born on March 16, 1959 in Suffern, NY.
Duffy had been employed as a groundskeeper for Lederle Labs later known as Pfizer in Pearl River, NY. Duffy attended the National Shrine of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel in Middletown. Duffy coached baseball for Chapel Field School and also Middletown Little League. He was a loving father and enjoyed spending time with his children, and was a loyal friend who changed the world with his kindness. He loved sports, hunting and fishing and was an avid Notre Dame Football fan. He was every one’s favorite coach and the world’s best friend.
Survivors include: his wife, Linda Hopper at home in Murrells Inlet, SC; his son, Steven Hopper and Janey Bergeron of Hannacroix, NY; his daughter, Danielle Leighton and her husband Taylor of Georgetown, SC; his brother, Brian Dutko and his wife Debra of Southborough, MA; sister, Robin Ventura of Orlando, FL; brother Charles Hopper and his wife Mary Lou of Bishopville, SC; loving aunt & uncle Judith & David Allen of Pearl River, NY; brother-in-law & sister-in-law Robert & Joanne Margro of Monroe, NY; and numerous nieces & nephews and his loving grand pups. Duffy was predeceased by his brother Bruce Dutko.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 5-9 PM Saturday, September 24th at the Cornelius, Dodd & Connell Funeral Home, 26 Grove St., Middletown, NY.
