Marla G. Kandel

   Marla G. Kandel, a lifelong area resident, died Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at Orange Regional Medical Center in the Town of Wallkill, NY. She was 72 years of age.

    The daughter of the late Joseph and Bertha Laskowitz, she was born June 18, 1945 in New York City.

   Marla was a member of the Multiple Sclerosis Society and a member of Hadassah.

    The family would like to thank Marla’s aides and friends Margy and Yvette for their care, love and support.

    Survivors include her loving husband, Irwin Kandel at home in Middletown; her children, Judd D. Kandel and his wife Bonnie of Centerville, VA, Gregg J. Kandel of Middletown, and Andrea D. Kandel of Bloomingburg; her grandsons, Ben Kandel of Middletown and Jake Kandel of Centerville, VA; her brother, Rory Laskowitz and his wife Gail of Midlothian, VA; nephews, Scott Laskowitz and his wife MaryAnne, Mitchell Laskowitz and his wife Kelly, Joseph Laskowitz, Samuel Laskowitz, Mark Edelman, Alan Edelman and his wife Erica, Lee Edelman and his partner Joseph; nieces Sherri Dewitt and Pam Kandel and her partner Cindy; great nieces and great nephews, Emily and Robert Laskowitz and Ashley and Aaron Laskowitz; her sister-in-law Angela Laskowitz of Boynton Beach, FL, sister-in-law Beatrice Schultz of Poway, CA, sister-in-law Diane Romm of Boynton Beach, FL; her beloved dog Ashford. Marla was predeceased by her brother, Robert Laskowitz and brother-in-law Moses Kandel, sisters-in-law Shirley Edelman and Bertha Karpoff, and her Border Collie Macy.

    Graveside Services will be held at 2 PM Friday, May 18th at Temple Sinai Cemetery, Route 302, Circleville, NY. Rabbi Marcus Rubenstein will officiate.

   Memorial contributions in Marla’s name may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society, 733 Third Ave., 3rd Floor, NY, NY 10017 or to the American Cancer Society, 121 Executive Drive, New Windsor, NY 12553.

    Arrangements have been entrusted to the Cornelius, Dodd & Connell Funeral Home, Middletown, NY.
