Irene B. Drenth

   Irene B. Drenth, a 66 year area resident, entered into rest on Friday, March 23, 2018 at Valley View Center in Goshen, NY. She was 99 years of age.

    The daughter of the late Aike and Trina Blom, she was born on February 7, 1919 in Holland.

   Irene was a homemaker and a former dairy farmer working with her late husband, Peter Drenth, on their farm on McBride Road in Slate Hill. She attended Harmony Baptist Church and was a member of the Young at Heart Senior Group of the church. Irene loved to cook and enjoyed knitting. She was strong and independent, yet loving and caring. She was always ready to prepare a meal at a moments notice and was always willing to help people. Irene loved and enjoyed her church family.

    Survivors include her loving children, Trina Zwart of Greenville, NY, Ella Cavaliere of Middletown and Aike Drenth and his wife Mary of North Granville, NY; 7 grandchildren,3 step-grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, several step-great grandchildren, 6 great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Irene was predeceased by her husband, Peter Drenth, siblings Meyer Blom, Trina Westra, George Blom, son-in laws Anthony Cavaliere and Wesley Zwart and granddaughter Irene Cavaliere.

    Visitation for family and friends will be held from 6-8 PM Monday, March 26th, at the Cornelius, Dodd & Connell Funeral Home, 26 Grove St., Middletown, NY. Funeral Services will be held 11 AM Tuesday at the funeral home with Reverend John Hawco officiating. Interment will follow in the family plot in the Ridgebury Cemetery, Slate Hill, NY.

   Memorial contributions in Irene’s name may be made to the Harmony Baptist Church, 1790 Route 211 East, Middletown, NY 10941 or to the charity of your choice.
