Hilda Ann Melvin

   Hilda A. Melvin, a lifelong area resident, entered into rest on Thursday, February 1, 2018 at Orange Regional Medical Center in the Town of Wallkill, NY. She was 74 years of age.

    The daughter of the late John and Matilda Riggs, she was born on May 2, 1943 in Warwick, NY.

   Hilda had been employed as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Elant at Goshen. She was a member of St. Stephens and St. Edwards Church in Warwick, NY and formerly Holy Cross Church in South Centerville.

    Survivors include her children, Donna L. Utter of Queens, NY, Gerald C. Melvin and his wife Susan of Mocksville, NC, Tammy M. Bedford of Everglades City, FL, Thomas J. Melvin and his wife Margaret of Mason City, IA, Beverly A. Masone and husband Christopher of Matamoras, PA, Amanda M. Melvin of Slate Hill, NY and Tammy Haggerty of Westbrookville, NY; her brother Jerry Riggs; 17 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Hilda was predeceased by her husbands, Gerald Utter and Thomas J. Melvin Sr., grandson Thomas Joseph Melvin III and 12 brothers and sisters.

    Visitation for family and friends will be held from 10-11 AM Monday, February 5th at the Cornelius, Dodd & Connell Funeral Home, 26 Grove St., Middletown, NY. Funeral Services will begin at 11 AM with Reverend Michael Cedro officiating. Interment will follow in the Ridgebury Cemetery, Slate Hill, NY.
