Charles Benjamin Otero

   Charles Benjamin Otero, a lifelong area resident, entered into rest on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at Orange Regional Medical Center in the Town of Wallkill, NY. He was 67 years of age.

    The son of the late Marcelano and Dolores Otero, he was born on October 5, 1950 in New York, NY.

   Charles retired from the New York State Correctional Facility in Otisville, NY where he served as head cook. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1971-73. He was a member of the Wolf Pack Pool League and the Knight Riders Motorcycle Club and a member of the CSEA.

    Survivors include his wife, Daralynn Otero at home in Middletown; his children, Anthony Nerys of Otisville and Alegna “Lainie” Otero of Queens, NY; his stepchildren, Tanya Crawford and her husband Louis of Matamoras, PA and LeAndra Coe and her husband Bradley of Milford, PA; 12 grandchildren; his sister, Harriet Otero of Bronx, NY; his brothers Joseph Sanchez of Binghamton, Junior Otero of Tennessee and Tony Otero of Middletown; numerous nieces & nephews.  Charles was predeceased by his sister Alice Troche, his brother Edward Otero and stepson Dario Diaz III.

    Visitation for family and friends will be held from 4 -7 PM Thursday, September 27th at the Cornelius, Dodd & Connell Funeral Home, 26 Grove St., Middletown, NY. A prayer service will begin at 7 PM.

    A Memorial Luncheon will take place beginning at 11 AM Friday, September 28th in the Community Room at 4 Bella Vista Drive, Building 4, Middletown, NY.

    Cremation will take place at the Cedar Hill Crematory, Newburgh, NY. Following cremation, Charles ashes will be interred in the family plot in Holy Name Cemetery, Otisville, NY with military honors.

    Memorial contributions in Charles memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 2 Jefferson Plaza, Suite 103, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601-4060.
