Annette LeJeune Raub

Annette LeJeune Raub, 90, of Venice passed away peacefully at home on April 21, 2017, surrounded by her husband Stanley, her wonderful caregiver Melanie Smith, and her Priest and Doctor. Annette was born in Springfield Mass on May 31, 1926. Raised in Plattsburg, NY. She graduated from Plattsburg high school in 1943. During WWII the Surgeon General under President FDR established the Cadet Nurse Corps for women nurses during the war effort. She was in the first class of nurses in the program graduating with a Bachelor and then a Master's Degree. Upon graduation in 1947 she went to Middletown NY to start her teaching – nursing career. Two years later she joined the faculty at the State University of New Paltz, NY. She moved back to Middletown in 1952 where she married her husband. At the same time she and three other nurses started a new innovated program for nurses at the Orange County Community College in conjunction with Columbia University. She loved her work and she loved her students. In later years she went back teaching in public and private schools in Delmar NY. She loved to volunteer for those organizations that helped those in need, including the Arthritis Society, Leukemia, March of Dimes and American Heart Society. Annette really enjoyed braiding rugs, hooked rugs, sewing and reading, walking and working out at the Venice YMCA. She especially enjoyed her friends at Harrington Lake for the past 22 years. She and her husband, Stanley whom she shared nearly 65 years of marriage had 4 children. Anne who predeceased Annette in 1957 as an infant, Susan Raub of Rochester NY, Marie Scott (Lawrence)of San Clemente CA and William R Raub (Maureen) also predeceased as a victim of the tragedy of 9-11-2001. Also survived by three grandchildren, Rebecca and Liam Raub and Dillon Scott; two sisters, Jeanne LeJeune, of Plattsburg NY, Suzanne Young of St Louis MO.

     Graveside services will be held at 12 Noon on Saturday, October 12, 2019 at the Pine Hill Cemetery, 3470 Route 6, Middletown, NY.

     If desired donations can be made in Annette's name to the William R Raub Scholarship Fund at Siena College 515 Loudon Road, Loudonville NY 12211.

    Arrangements have been entrusted to Cornelius, Dodd & Connell Funeral Home, Middletown, NY.
