William Y. Speirs Jr., a lifelong area resident, entered into rest peacefully and surrounded by his family on Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at Orange Regional Medical Center in the Town of Wallkill, NY. He was 92 years of age.
The son of the late William Y. and Janet Speirs Sr., he was born on December 31, 1924 in Ridgebury, NY.
Bill was a retired custodian and was employed by the Middletown School System. He was formerly employed by Dairylea in Goshen as a machine operator. Bill was a member of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church in Middletown, the CSEA and the Middletown Elks Lodge No. 1097.
Survivors include his wife, Angelina Anna Speirs at home in Middletown; his 3 sons, William Y. Speirs III of Jupiter, FL, Peter Michael Speirs of McKinney, TX and John Francis Speirs of Wilmington, NC; his grandchildren, Eric, Andrew, Austin, Maria, Aryssa, Angelina and Elena; 2 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Bill was predeceased by one brother and one sister.
Family and friends may call at the Cornelius, Dodd & Connell Funeral Home, 26 Grove St., Middletown, NY on Thursday, February 23rd from 5-7 PM where Middletown Elks Lodge will conduct a service.
Cremation will take place at the Cedar Hill Crematory, Newburgh, NY.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Cornelius, Dodd & Connell Funeral Home, Middletown, NY.
