Wallis Parris Obituary

Wallis Parris was born Wallis Bailey 78 years ago in Campbell Hall, the youngest of 5 children to Ora and Alma Bailey. The family moved to New Hampton when she was 3 years old and most of her life was spent there.

She graduated from O.C.C.C and became a member of the Denton Presbyterian Church where she faithfully served for over 50 years. She taught Sunday School and V.B.S., was a youth group leader, led the Sunday School Singers and served as secretary for a while, and was a member of the Women’s Missionary Organization. While she was busy with all of this, she found time to fall in love and marry Gale Parris in 1969 and even start a family.

When she became a widow in 1976, with a child to raise, she knew her strength to carry on came from God. Her favorite scripture is Philippians 4:10-13 and her favorite hymn was “Beneath the Cross of Jesus”.

Wally was employed as a bookkeeper for Weinert’s T-Shirts for over 30 years. In her retirement years she enjoyed her hobbies of reading, watching movies (especially musicals) and doing sudoku puzzles.

She is survived by her daughter, Laura Ann of Middletown; 2 brothers, Jack Bailey and his wife Jane of North Carolina and Karol Bailey and his wife Beverly of Middletown; her niece Janis Errichetti and her cousin Susan Bailey as well as other nieces and nephews. Wally was predeceased by her husband Gale Parris, and her sisters Enid Buko and Irma Conklin.

The family wishes to acknowledge and thank Pat Weinert for her exemplary and over-the-top assistance to Laura and the Denton Church Family for all of their assistance.
