Robert David Elg

  Robert David Elg, a 33 year area resident, entered into rest on Thursday, March 16, 2017 at the Orange Regional Medical Center in the Town of Wallkill, NY. He was 96 years of age.

    The son of the late David and Ruby Pearson Elg, he was born on June 10, 1920 in Two Harbors, MN.

    Robert proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. He retired after 30 years from the Metropolitan Opera in NYC where he worked in the office.

    A caregiver’s statement read: Someone should write a song of a man people never knew. Robert lived a happy, simple life in his house by the river, listening to his music. He was a wonderful person and was very appreciative. His neighbors, family and friends loved him and he will be greatly missed. Robert’s caregivers, Ken Baker, Tonja Robbins, Nicky Hultslander and Sydney Bayer took care of him and loved him like family.

    Robert is survived by his nephew David Hangartner of Oregon and niece Judy Koschak of Texas. He was predeceased by his sister Helen Anderson, and his parents David and Ruby Elg.

    A private burial will take place in the spring with family and friends.

     Memorial contributions may be made to Meals on Wheels or the Jewish Family Service.
