Barbara Louise Pezzella

November 21, 1937 ~ October 14, 2017 (age 79) 79 Years Old

Barbara Pezzella (Lane) passed away peacefully at home in Rock Hill, NY on Saturday, October 14, 2017. She was 79. Barbara was born November 21, 1937 in Middletown, NY to parents Lena and Joseph Lane.

Barbara was retired from her career as a librarian at Ethelbert B. Crawford Public Library in Monticello, NY. She was also a former organist at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Wurtsboro, NY.

A gifted musician, Barbara initially attended Westminster Choir College in Princeton, NJ, where she majored in Music with a concentration in Organ. Barbara left Westminster and transferred to the State University at Fredonia to study Elementary Education. Upon graduation, she was an elementary school teacher at the Westfield School District in Westfield, NY. Thereafter, she married and moved to Hamburg, NY where she began her family.

Barbara was a loving mother to James Dromazos of Manassas, VA, Bradley Dromazos of Hurleyville, NY, and Robert Pezzella of Rock Hill, NY; a supportive mother-in-law to Patrice Dromazos of Hurleyville, NY and Bonita Dromazos of Manassas, VA; an adoring sister to the late Patricia Lane of Middletown, NY; a doting grandmother to Courtney Dromazos, Darius Dromazos, Brendan Dromazos, Eric Dromazos and Matthew Dromazos. Her grandchildren will fondly remember all the wonderful things she did for them, such as the Easter egg hunts she organized for them each year, and how supportive she was of all their endeavors. She was greatly proud of each of them.

A passionate animal lover, Barbara adopted and cared for many animals throughout her lifetime. She was a loyal QVC customer of many years, if not their top customer. She will be remembered for her humor, her stories, and her caring nature.

As per Barbara’s wishes, there will be no funeral service or memorial. She requested that any donations be made to Hospice of Orange and Sullivan Counties Inc., 800 Stony Brook Court, Newburgh, NY 12550, and Puppies Behind Bars, a cause which Barbara strongly supported, either online, by phone or by mail: http://www.puppiesbehindbars.com/make-a-donation 212-680-9562, Puppies Behind Bars, 263 West 38th St., 4th floor, New York, NY 10018.
